1. Soothe skin with steam

Facial steaming has been hailed as a miracle cure for everything from blocked pores to head colds. However, always make sure the water is not so hot that the steam burns the face and causes broken capillaries. Using too much hot water could actually dehydrate your skin, leaving it dry and irritated.

2. Set your make-up with hairspray

This age-old technique could cause real damage to your complexion. 3. Use body lotion on your face

There are many scams in the beauty world, however, using separate moisturiser for your face and body is not one of them. The skin on the face is so much more “responsive” than other areas of the body and there is a greater risk of an adverse reaction.

4. Rub toothpaste on adult acne

Avoid this one if you don’t want dry, flaky skin. Although the characteristics of toothpaste could help due to the anti-bacterial properties, cleansing properties and its ability to absorb oil, toothpaste has been developed to treat the hard surface of tooth enamel. 5. Use washing-up liquid on greasy skin

Washing-up liquid is designed to cleanse grease from dishes, not skin, and can contain some harsh chemicals that will strip the skin of the natural oil needed to keep it healthy. Ever looked at your hands when you have washed a load of dishes? They feel dry and look ten years older.
